SYDNEY, July 21 (Reuters) - Sales of new motor vehicles in Australia rose 1.0 percent in June from the previous month on a seasonally adjusted basis, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Monday.
In June, 88,917 vehicles were sold, compared to 88,051 in May. Sales were 1.4 percent higher than the same month a year earlier. In trend terms, sales fell 0.4 percent on the previous month.
Already released industry data had shown new vehicle sales jumped 6.3 percent in June as buyers rushed to beat a rise in the tax on luxury cars. (Reporting by Wayne Cole)
