SYDNEY, July 24 (Reuters) - Australia's Newcrest Mining Ltd (ASX: NCM.ax) said on Thursday its gold production in the three months to the end of June fell 1 percent over the previous quarter, hampered by disruptions to gas supplies to its Telfer mine.
Australia's laregst gold producer reported gold output of 435,120 ounces for the period, down 6 percent from the previous year. Copper output was 22,394 tonnes, up slightly on a year ago and up 6 percent on the previous quarter.
The company said its Cadia Valley mine in Australia and its Gosowong mine in Indonesia continued to perform strongly.
Its giant Telfer mine in west Australia had to cope with a gas supply disruption caused by an explosion at Apache Corp's APA.N Varanus plant, and the bringing forward of maintenance work at a processing facility.
Newcrest's shares have fallen about 6 percent so far this year, compared with a 19.5 percent drop in the broader index. (Reporting by James Thornhill, Editing by Jonathan Standing)
