Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/d09d35/malaysian_computed) has announced the addition of Frost & Sullivan's new report "Malaysian Computed Radiography; Digital Radiography and Computer Aided Diagnosis Market" to their offering.
This Frost & Sullivan research service titled Malaysian Computed Radiography; Digital Radiography and Computer Aided Diagnosis Market is an end-user study that comprises one-to-one interviews with key opinion leaders, end users, and vendors, regionally. These interviews have helped to gather relevant and updated insights on varying levels of technology adoption, future trends, and industry challenges in the computed radiography (CR), digital radiography (DR), and computer aided diagnosis (CAD) markets. Competitive structure and analysis of market share, market participation, and end-user adoption are formed using feedback from primary and secondary sources. It presents market realities in terms of competitive factors, market leadership, and levels of technology adoption that are distinctive to the Malaysian CR, DR, and CAD markets. The latest insights are included to support manufacturers of these systems in their decision making to identify and prioritize opportunities in the markets.
The Malaysian Government has supported the advancement of its imaging industry through initiatives such as telehealth with efforts to upgrade radiographic equipment and medical facilities. Patient care is all set to experience a quantum leap with the greater use of digital imaging technology such as radiological information systems (RIS), picture archiving and communications systems (PACS), and teleradiology. This emerging focus on integrating clinical IT applications makes a case for complementary DR technology, as it helps cut costs and improve quality by replacing film-based systems. "DR technology seems most suited to facilitate the shift from regular consultations to teleradiology and teleconsultation networking," says the analyst of this research. "These programs are expected to link all healthcare providers in order to offer patients with enhanced access to healthcare products and services."
However, there is a lack of adequately competent or trained personnel to operate these higher end technologies. This insufficient training has restrained DR technology's adoption, as end users require substantial guidance to navigate the steep learning curve from analogue to digital solutions. Although practical training centers offer seminars and workshops annually, more concerted efforts are required to instill confidence in the users. The Ministry of Health has taken stock of this situation and begun to organize regional training courses and vendor applications training on DR. "This will better prepare the end users for the nuances of a digital workflow within the imaging environment and differentiate vendors in this highly competitive market," notes the analyst.
Once the training issue is addressed, market participants can refocus on some crucial elements of health technology such as patient safety, availability of appropriate technology, and its accessibility. Governments and insurance companies are likely to draft new reimbursement coverage for the more sophisticated and expensive technologies, which will give a huge thrust to their adoption and use by hospitals and patients alike. Affordability will also play a role in the uptake of imaging modalities such as CR. Providers of CR will feel heartened by their market prospects, as public and private hospitals increasingly realize the cost-benefit analysis of capture-recapture in providing higher precision images with minimum effort. "Meanwhile, in the case of CAD, its continued adoption for digital mammography as well as higher replacement demand will nurture it in the early stages and raise its prices over the long term," observes the analyst. "Its market potential is further bolstered by the Ministry of Health's move to commission upgrades of internal imaging technologies for screening breast cancer."
