New Zealand's export sector has been in recession for the last five years, according to Finance Minister Bill English in a statement made minutes ago. It is not too likely that it will recover at any time in the near future, after the domestic currency gained unprecedented strength in the last three months. Furthermore, high domestic costs have weakened the country's competitive export position in the world economy.
