SYDNEY, June 29 (Reuters) - Australian shares fell 0.4 percent on Monday after a choppy session as moderate losses in global miners BHP Billiton (ASX: BHP.ax) and Rio Tinto (ASX: RIO.ax) dragged on the broader index.

The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 .AXJO fell 16.9 points to 3,886.9 points, according to the latest data available. New Zealand's benchmark NZX 50 index .NZ50 edged up 0.16 percent, or 4.5 points, to 2,775.1. (Reporting by Koh Gui Qing)
