Telecom is making a bid to win over heavy text users with a plan giving customers "all the texts they need" for $12 a month to any New Zealand network.

Users can sign on to the Non Stop Text plan from today until the end of January 2010. For those who sign up, the offer is available until the end of January 2011.

Fair use policy and terms apply to the offer, Telecom said. Customers who considerably exceed historic average text figures would be asked to adjust their usage.

"We're picking this is going to be a very attractive offer for avid texters, in particular," spokeswoman Rebecca Earl said.

Plans introduced by Telecom on its XT network in June provided 150 texts for $6, 600 texts for $12 and 1500 texts for $18.

Telecom also today announced new plans for mobile broadband.

They include a postpaid Christmas offer that provides "8GB (gigabytes) of data for the price of 4GB" on a 24-month term at $69.95 a month if customers also have fixed broadband with Telecom, or $79.95 for other customers.
