Northland Port Corp said trading at Northport Ltd is ahead of last year and ahead of budget in the first three months of the financial year.

Chairman Geoff Vazey expected the above budget trend to be maintained to year-end, with log volumes expected to remain at, or above current levels.

Mr Vazey told shareholders at the annual meeting that several proposals were being investigated to tenant a significant area of the port's 185ha land bank. This could provide additional volume of product for export through the port.

The company operates the port at Marsden Point.
